Best gardening gloves for attacking massive brambles?

I'd like to help my mum sort out her garden a bit, it's got out of control and is past the blowsy cottage garden look and now is more bramble and nettle playground. I'd like some really decent gauntlets, ones that won't rip and tear when attacking brambles, and won't let the stingers sting me!
Any recommendations? Thank you!

I keep a pair of builders large gloves, (very cheap bought at DIY store) for doing this sort of thing. Hardly elegant, but seem to work.

Bearofnothingness...tempted by an industrial strummer, but sadly the brambles are all entwined with mature shrubs, and pretty plants. So I need to trace them back to the root, and cut them off, pull them out or generally weaken the thorny horrors.
Workmens gloves it is then!
