Recommend Us a Mower Please

Long narrow garden (200ft) mainly grass but last 30 ft or so left to wild flower meadow. We haven't got along with petrol mowers for one reason or another - hard to start, heavy to manoeuvre, unreliable running etc . Have managed to trim in past with strimmer and use ancient Flymo when grass is short but that is now either blunt or struggling for power when the grass is longer, has started to smoke and doesn't give a good finish anyway.

So looking for a new mower, either electric with a long cord or cordless, to cope with patchy grass and uneven ground. Given our track history don't want to spend a fortune and Dh works close to a B and Q. Any recommendations please?

We have had a Wolf Garten for many years, and they are very robust and easy to use, and have three year guarantee.

I notice currently there is a special offer for around £100, for 1400W, down from £160. They also do a hand-push cylinder mower for £65.

Get a self propelled petrol mower. Much easier to push. A visit one will be about £200.

Bosch rotak cordless (the ones with the lithium battery) is what you need. Mine is brilliant on my 150ft long, sloped, uphill garden (v v light)

We have the Bosch rotak cordless too definitely well worth it with a long garden

Like the look of the Bosch but not sure we can stretch to cordless. It costs so much more than corded!

Thanks, got a Bosch which seems to handle the grass well. Couldn't justify a cordless though. Sad
