Hi, I am thinking of doing a row of red robins instead of a fence for my front garden.

I know there are different types, can anyone advise on the right type for a border and how far apart they need to be planted?

Thank you smile

Whilst on the subject of red robins - can the lollipop tree type ones (Little Red Robin) be planted safely near a house without being in danger of damaging the foundations?

Sorry Back that wasn't helpful to you!

I think I read somewhere that they don't make a dense enough hedge if you are wanting a more 'secure' feature - I have them in my border but in front of a fence

They are cheering me up in this dismal weather!

I have a large red robin which often looks a bit sparse as they do loose a lot of leaves throughout the year! The new red growth is beautiful but they dislike clay soil and seem prone to black spot.

Portuguese laurel makes a nice, dense hedge or how about a mixed hedge?
