What to do with an old pond?

We have been in our home for approx 3 years, it came with a raised fishpond which is made of bricks. Got rid of fish and emptied it late last summer which has left us with a big empty box in the garden! (Approx 2.5m x 1.5m) It sits up against the side of garage wall and it is rendered on the outside to match the walls. What would you do with it? Was thinking of filling it with plants or maybe turning into a large seat but not sure! I didn't really want to tackle taking it down at the moment as will have to re-render the wall behind as will leave quite a mess and we need to spend some money elsewhere on the house atm Smile

Sounds like it would look lovely as a planter. You could go for some low maintenance plants like sedum, campanulas or crocus (like a rock garden). You could fill it with seasonal bedding (primulas and daffs at this time of year). Or if you want something low maintenance, fill it with summer flowering bulbs such as lilies (watch out for red lily beetles though)
Lots of possibilities!

YY to the idea of using it as a raised bed!
