Need to improve kerb appeal (ie house ugly from outside).
Expecting lots of visitors over Xmas- what plants would you recommend for big pots either side of door?
Like topiary but would they last through winter?

A couple of Christmas Box would work. Also, if there's space, some white cyclamen in smaller pots beside the big ones could look good?

Mini conifers.

I always look at peoples houses when I see good kerb appeal to see what they have. Mostly just tidy looking, but nice pots (glazed ceramic rather rather plastic) are more important than what you actually plant IME.

If you have a look on pinterest there are some really nice, simple idea. An evergreen (such as conifer) with white cyclamen planted around it is very effective.

Skimmia are evergreen with deep pink/red buds then tiny white/pale pink flowers when they open.

Mini conifers - they can be decorated to look like mini xmas trees over the festive season

Watching with interest as my house lacks kerb appeal too.
In my opinion a shaped conifer, round buxus or tree shaped laurel always looks classy. I am likely to go for the latter.

I've also seen fake trellis on amazon which looks pretty cool to my untrained eye fake trellis.
