White rot. My poor onions

I planted my onions back in October, went to dig them up and over half had white rot and some had bolted. I admit they were slightly neglected Blush but my garlic was perfect.

will I be able to use the bed again or can I plant something else. I heard once you have white rot it's very difficult to fix. Any suggestions please Sad

I think the 'spores' can last up to 15 years and there's no chemical 'cure'.

You'll be fine planting anything but members of the allium family - the 'spores' can identify a chemical exuded by alliums and latch on to them.

You'll need to be careful with tools/boots etc as otherwise you could spread it to other parts of your plot/garden.
