I have a narrow garden but at least 250 foot long. Our neighbours garden is like an over grown bramble bush ....I can't keep the bloody things out or stand to look at it anymore!! So......have a new fence about 5 1/2 foot tall. Trouble is it looks a bit bare and long! So what would you suggest other than climbers to plant against it. Like lots of flowers or coloured leaves for autumn, but not to bulky if you see what I mean .GrinGrin thanks!

Virginia Creeper - they are lovely (ours is in leaf now) beautiful green leaves that turn the most amazing vibrant red. But, one day they just fall Sad

Dogwood - again lovely leaves but about Hallowe'en time they all fall leaving beautiful red stems.

We have a red jasmine, very tiny deep pink flowers . I love the traditional yellow winter flowering jasmine too.

Buddleia (sp) grows quickly , and you get the most amazing scent (as well as bees and butterflies)

For quick cover - sweetpeas, ivy, honeysuckle (all climbers I know)

California Lilac is gorgeous (especially the darker ones)

Cottoneaster ( flowers then berries for the birds but thorny)

Before you plant , why not paint your side and it'll seen less 'naked' ?
