does anyone have a clue what this could be?

apologies if you've already seen my thread in chat but it was suggested there i try asking you green-fingered lot if you had any ideas what this bizarre thing is. it is about five foot tall, has hooks round the inside top bit, and loopy bits underneath the middle bit, almost like bottle holders maybe. we have no idea at all beyond 'might be a kitchen thing...?'

does anyone have a clue what this could be?

No idea, but it's quite pretty isn't it? Is that a small shelf around the inside of the top part?

yes catsofa, and there's another in the bottom, as well as a line of hooks around the bottom of the dome bit on the top. weird isn't it! we thought it was a bird cage at first but it's clearly not.

So it's for storing and hanging up something quite specific. I'm dying to know now. Could you email the photo to an antiques dealer to ask if they know what it is?

I posted this on your other thread, mindalina

"under the middle bits, you can just about see, it has loopy bits like it might be a bottle holder, so we wondered if it was some sort of kitchen cabinet."

Just had another thought. Maybe it's a rather eccentric 'drinks cabinet/holder' which might be found in a Victorian conservatory?!

Not sure whether that's any help?!

yes fru it seems like something like that doesn't it? i found lots of pictures of birdcages with plants in like you did, and also of birdcages as wedding decorations (one for the feminist board maybe Wink) but nothing quite like this. dp wants to put it on ebay but im reluctant, i at least want to know what it is before we get rid of it!

I'd absolutely love that, it really is lovely.
Heaven knows what we'd do with it, but I think we'd put it in the garden too!
