Tackling our garden in our empty fo4 years/neglected for years New house. Gardening novice. Any ideas what this is? Looks quite big for a weed.
The first of I suspect many posts in gardening - I want to learn and will be green fingered! [Grin]

It looks like Caper spurge - Euphorbia lathyris- here. I would dig it out, as it tends to seed itself everywhere.

Yes it's spurge,& underneath that are aquilegia,cut the dead flowers from them unless you want lots more.

Aah Thank you! It has a most excellent name and is almost worth keeping for that reason alone, however just read that it's poisonous, so it's getting dug up.
Yes aquilegia - they almost got dug up last year, thinking they were weeds, and now of course we have lots of them! Will remove dead flowers this year!

I've got quite a few of them in my garden, and not near any woodland. Pleased to know what it is as I have been wondering but not got round to trying to find out!
The poison/skin irritant think is not good though so yes I will have to get rid of mine too as either my DD or rabbit will one day find them!
