Where is best to buy plants - from a website or directly from a nursery?

Just had really amazing customer service from David Austin roses. Inclined to think its better to buy roses from them direct than ones that have been sitting round in a garden centre for an age

Bloms for bulbs
Keepers for fruit trees
Hayloft for perennials
Burncoose for choice shrubs and trees. Also top quality perennials.

Crocus is expensive but good for reference. I use them to show clients potential plants and to help them decide what they want.

Then I make my purchases from local plant nurseries. Can you Google search to see what nurseries are near you? The plants will have grown in similar conditions to yours and they will be acclimatised to the weather, unlike anything you would buy from a garden centre (which will also be pumped up with chemicals).

I agree about using David Austin (or Peter Beales) for roses. Always.
