Outdoor carpet?

Has anyone used that green outdoor carpet in their garden, and if so, is it any good/what are the things to watch out for? I want to cover an area in front of DS's play house, mainly so that I can just brush up sand from the sand pit (rather than it getting into the lawn and killing all the grass), and to save the ground getting churned up in damp weather.

Sand won't kill grass. On the contrary, it loves sandy soil.

True enough - as top dressing does of course have sand in it! Thing is, the area is not grassed at present; it's bare earth rapidly being colonised by dandelions and Yorkshire Fog. So I need to do something with it, and I thought carpet would be easier to brush sand spillages up from without the sand (which will go back into the sandpit) getting full of bits.

There's a municipal play area near us that's carpeted but it's a big area. I was wondering if smaller areas worked less well.

Unashamed bump!

Do you mean artificial grass? At least one company does a "carpet"-type
quality, but so many types/costs.
