Sand for sand pit

Do you any of you use normal sand as opposed to play sand in your sand pit?

Also roughly how much do I need for a 1.38m square sand pit?

I'm told that normal building sand stains clothes. We got B&Q kiln dried sand and it's fine. We have a 1msq sandpit and used 4 bags.

Don't get any form of builders' sand - it has all sorts of nasty chemicals added, fungicides and stuff to help it mix with cement.

Pure silver sand should be ok, but playpit sand is the best bet.

IIRC, it took 3-4 bags slightly smaller than a pillowcase to fill our 1m diameter sandpit.
