Would it be possible to do 30 credits (quarter of a full year) whilst on a gap yah?
Thank you

You would be better asking the OU as they would know if you met the requirements for the module, it also would depend on what you were doing during your gap year e.g. If it was a year out between second and third hear getting some experience in the workplace judging your workload as well as finding time to study might be difficult.

The OU would definitely be better able to advise you. There's no commitment/annoying follow up email or call if you ask.

Which course and what level maths have you done before? I did M123 (something like that!), the in my spare time (whilst working/looking after children) in the given time for the course, which I think was 9 months. It was about 20 years after I got GCSE maths and I loved it!

ThanksFlowersThanksFlowersThanks

First day of children into the school and his new head of year has called me, meeting early next week. He's already taken action on a lot of points on the list and is going to meet DS1 later today.

So thank you very much intelligent, helpful people of MN, thank you for taking your time to give me the words to say and the courage that I was right to say them. Sleeves rolled up and away we go, fingers crossed I get through the next 9 months in one piece and with a son who doesn't hate me and is tooled up with exam results that reflect his ability.

DO'h wrong thread. Wow, that's the first time I've done that Grin. Still, big up the women in SN, they are really super helpful Grin. I shall go and repost this over there for them instead.

OP, have you looked at the courses yet?

Sorry not to reply; only just logged in.
It is for dd who is working abroad atm. She has an a in maths so I don't think entry qualification. Mr Slant, I know the course that you mean.

(Why was this not all sorted out in advance? Grumble)

(Flowers to you, MrSlant; springs in steps all round!)

I'm not full of admiration for parents who run round after young adults and not over the moon re turning into one. :)

I felt like a grown up today, it was weird. Be glad when my modules start again and I can pretend I am a student again. It's so hard isn't it, you want them to be independent but also to do it the right way Grin

If she has an A at A level then she should have no trouble slotting in to the level one courses, I would say the main blockage is if she has the self discipline to do the work. The course will have a schedule to follow on a week by week basis, so if she is motivated enough to follow that then she'll be fine. my son would be hopeless how he will ever pass his GCSE's this year I don't know There are a lot of books but it is also all online so she can access it anywhere.

If she is abroad that might be an issue as well due to sitting exams. I know there are some countries where it isn't a problem but she may be far from an exam centre/tutorials.

Level one should be ok if she has a levels (sorry I'd assumed you meant a gap year whilst doing a degree) but still best for her to email them, especially given she's abroad.
