...but what DO you do about maternity pay if you are self employed?
Wasn't for first child, hoping to have another soon (foolish ovaries willing,) and wondered what I need to do to get anything I am entitled to? Will shortly have a year's accounts but they aren't blistering as some income has been through personal property development so not through the company. Or is it simpler than that?

You'll be entitled to Maternity Allowance I suspect:

£139ish provided you've earned the qualifying amount which I think is £30 per week over any 13 weeks

Thanks - how do I prove earnings if self employed? Currently all profits are going straight back into growing the company.. Also presumably I need to pay NI, can I pay a wedge to get up to date?

Still very new to this!

If you are self employed, your earnings are your taxable profits
have a look at my ebay me page to work out which number to use ...
