Fostering in a town house

I am a foster carer and have just been having a discussion with my neighbour who is very keen to begin the fostering process. She lives in a three storey house with her bedroom and her dd bedroom on the first floor and two further bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor. I always believed LAC had to be on the same floor as carers, is that the case with many of you? Will ask our sw when back next week but just thought I would ask other carers too. Thanks

i have never heard of that rule, lots of carers here have loft conversions that lac sleep in, so our authority don't mind

Under 10's must be on the same floor as the foster carers, so my birth children are in our loft conversion!

Our agency had no problem wth LAC being on different floors to sleep (teenagers though)

It is in the fostering regs. But it is possible to get exemptions in some circumstances. My FC sleeps downstairs, as it is more accessible for example, not sure how often they do exempt, but it can be done.

We have a 10 year in our loft conversion. He's been with us 4 years and nobody has had a problem with it.

I sleep on the ground floor. All fostered children sleep on the first floor. I've been fostering for ten years. Never an issue. No reason it should be IMO
