Allowance for your teens?

DFD is 15. For various reasons, she will not, without battle, do household chores.

Bearing this in mind, she gets £20 per month pocket money, £20 pm clothing allowance, £20 pm savings, £7 for her phone. I also buy essentials and basics.

She can earn extra by helping in the house or garden, but refuses. she says she doesn't receive enough cash and wants more. I will pay £10 to clean my car for instance, but no interest.

Please divulge your allowances and methods for your teens

thanks in advance Smile

Allowances are set by our agency. We have the same savings and clothing as you but it's £10 per week pocket money. I've never paid extra for jobs. Once current DFD turned 15 she got a weekend job for extra cash. I do expect her to help around the house regardless when asked, as she is a member of the family and we all muck in. I didn't ever pay my own children for chores either.

thanks, my LA doesn't have any guidelines for pocket money, so it varies massively.

anyone else?

i have a 14 year old, i give her £50 a month, £20 of which has to be saved long term, she has to buy phone credit out of this(no more than £10 a month, or she would spend it all on her phone) but i buy her clothes as and when, just spent £200 on summer clothing.
I also fund cinema and other outings.
She is expected to help around house as part of family but if she helps with a big job, spring cleaning for example i will give her extra money.
Oh and she has extra spending money when we go on holiday, which is 3-4 times a year.
I foster for local authority.
