I have never tried one - am I missing out? If so which do you recommend? I like sickly things lol eg on a carrot cake prefer the frosting to the actual cake - would never be interested in just a blueberry muffin for example - too plain for me.
thanks

I had a chocolate praline one once. I enjoyed it but I haven't been back. I dont get the hype

The original glazed ones are lush, could eat them for days. Wasn't overly impressed with the lemon meringue obe or the chocolate one.
They are over-priced though

Anthracite Sat 03-Aug-13 18:53:49

They are vile.

brunette123 Sat 03-Aug-13 18:59:21

Yes they do seem expensive - I might just stick with my carrot cake or my chocolate thanks!

painforlife Sat 03-Aug-13 19:03:58

they are absolutely lush..... I llove the one that has chlocate on top & custard inside. love love love smile

brunette123 Sat 03-Aug-13 19:14:43

Ooh pain that sounds lovely - maybe I should buy the 12 pack and have a bite of each one..................................

AnythingNotEverything Sat 03-Aug-13 19:19:10

They do a millionaires' shortbread one. It's amazing.

noisytoys Sat 03-Aug-13 19:29:53

I always get the chocolate dreamcake. It is heaven in a bun. I like that its more of a bread-nut than a doughnut I don't like traditional donuts.

I think you'd love most of them. I think that most of them are too sweet and over flavoured, so I like the plain ring ones best.

We are in the north of Scotland and there are no Krispy Kreme doughnuts shops in Scotland (there is one in Edinburgh now but it has only recently opened). We love them, my favourite is millionaires shortbread. We always find a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop whe we are in England.

Last year I asked ds what we should do in the October holidays and we opted for shopping in Manchester because there is a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop there. It was a six hour drive there (and the same back), but we didn't tell dh that's why we were going to Manchester, lol.

painforlife Sat 03-Aug-13 19:46:07

oh brunette123 I want eat one now grin must get some tomorrow!!!

PlateSpinningAtAllTimes Sat 03-Aug-13 19:50:43

I really like the maple syrup ones. As you like sickly things you'll prob like all the filled ones, which I find too sickly. However, in the donut spectrum I'd say they're somewhere in the middle between freshly made donut stall ones <drool> and supermarket ones <meh>

PlateSpinningAtAllTimes Sat 03-Aug-13 19:51:37

darnit, me too painforlife!

painforlife Sat 03-Aug-13 19:52:37

smile

CecyHall Sat 03-Aug-13 19:58:05

Cream filled glazed was the best but they stopped them sad

brunette123 Sat 03-Aug-13 20:07:09

They seem to sell them in most Tesco stores and there are loads of Tescos near me - I have always walked past them - they are always near the door and newspapers - I will take a look next time I am there and there is a Tesco about half an hour away from me that has a Krispy Kreme store on the ground floor - I am rather worried that I won't stop at one though.

painforlife Sat 03-Aug-13 20:12:34

LOL it is hard to stop at just one!

Onesleeptillwembley Sat 03-Aug-13 20:59:52

Vile and ridiculously overpriced. Even my doughnut loving youngest agrees.

Steffanoid Sun 04-Aug-13 08:29:16

millionaires shortbread vote here. if you go to the one at the Trafford Centre you can watch them being made its amazing

BoohPear Sun 04-Aug-13 08:32:40

Original glazed, kruller, maple donut. Best ones in the universe.

ThisOneThatOne Sun 04-Aug-13 08:32:59

They've got a bit of a funny taste to them I think... Like a particular synthetic tang, and they are very sweet. But sometimes that can hit the spot!

Nothing beats fresh 'seaside' doughnuts though. I'm a bit obsessed by those.

Inhaled 8 original ones once without drawing breath. Was proud and disgusted all at once and my conscience only just stopped me polishing off the remaining 4!

Chocolate glazed, custard filled are my fave but soooo sweet can only manage one!

Xiaoxiong Sun 04-Aug-13 11:17:12

I don't like KrispyKremes but I am somewhat desperate to try a cronut. My manhattan cousins are wild about them - they're donuts made with croissant dough shock

PoppyAmex Sun 04-Aug-13 11:20:18

Xiao I've read about cronuts. There were massive queues from stupid o'clock in the morning and they restrict two per customer. I wonder if they live up to the vibe?

Southeastdweller Sun 04-Aug-13 11:21:38

Used to love them but then I found out they contain trans fats so I stopped buying them.

DifferentNow Sun 04-Aug-13 11:21:46

A big disappointment. No different to Greggs.

Xenadog Mon 05-Aug-13 12:45:18

In the Bull Ring in Birmingham you can see them being made and when I've had to queue to be served they come out with a hot plain one for every person in the queue.

Delish!

As for favourite? I like the apple ones.

Definitely worth a taste x

snowlie Mon 05-Aug-13 14:23:01

Used to love them until I looked at the massive list of ingredients - no wonder they taste synthetic, they don't contain any real ingredients. Wouldn't touch them now, not even tempted.

slalomsuki Mon 05-Aug-13 14:32:17

Not a big donut fan here based on the supermarket ones but I have to say Krispy Kreme ones are great.

Did you know you can freeze them too? I go to France via Portsmouth fairly frequently and always pick some up for the French freezer. They keep well and are a great treat.

Strawberry ones for me though.

LeGavrOrf Mon 05-Aug-13 14:42:54

They are revolting. Taste really synthetic.

The Strawberry and Kreme is soo good as is the Strawberry Gloss and the Glazed Raspberry.
Not so keen on the chocolate ones as I think the chocolate tastes a bit cheap.

I get the same feeling eating one as I would drunk texting an ex. Seems like a good idea at the time but end up regretting it and feeling all ashamed.

Strawberry and kreme is my fave. The millionaire's shortbread one is yummy too but a bit more sickly iykwim. Not keen on the others though.

timidviper Mon 05-Aug-13 22:26:21

They taste synthetic but it's one of those "so bad it's good" things. I love the plain, the maple glazed and the jam ones

Coconutty Mon 05-Aug-13 22:30:47

I love all of them, but really fancy a cronut.

scrappydappydoo Mon 05-Aug-13 22:31:15

[homer simpson drool] mmmm doughnuts
Asda do quite a good own brand version of the original - obviously much cheaper.
We stayed at a hotel in the states once with free brekkie which was basically chocolate cereal or krispy kremes - I left at least a stone heavier..

LynetteScavo Mon 05-Aug-13 22:32:12

They appear to be neither Krispy or Kremey.

I have had several opportunities to consume one. But I've never actually wanted to bring one to my lips.

brunette123 Wed 07-Aug-13 16:28:45

Was just in Tesco and looked at them - one of them, a choc praline one I think was £1.75 for one, the cheapest was the glazed £1.35 - so expensive - makes me sound tight perhaps but really not sure I would pay that for one..........
