Strawberries dipped in chocolate

Just made some but they didn't turn out very well. I laid them on a tray after dipping them for the chocolate to go hard. When it had we lifted them off the tray and half of the chocolate came off and stuck to the tray. How on earth do you prevent this from happening?

Only dip the top half and put them on the un dipped end to harden. Then you also get the nice colour contrast of the brown and pink

Oil the tray?

I did only half dip them but laid them on their sides. I left the stalks on so couldn't stand them on the other end.

I thought that, but I think any oil would overpower the delicate taste of either strawberry or chocolate???

Cut the stalks off with a sharp knife so that you have a nice flat bottom (wish I had a nice flat bottom!)

I think putting them on wax paper prevents this.

grease proof paper or put in fridge to harden and then let reach room temp before eating

use cocktail sticks - put one into a strawberry dip it in chocolate and then poke it into some polystyrene or something similar, and wait for chocolate to set.then when done just remove the sticks
