Recipe for bear shaped silicone cake mould needed please

I have teddy bear shaped silicone mould that I would like to use to make a lovely birthday cake for DS2's first birthday.

When DH last tried to bake a cake using it the bears face just crumbled away. Is there a good cake recipe for this type of mould that guarantees success?

A decent Madeira sponge should be fine, they're quite firm once cooked. If you want quantities I can look them up for you.

Don't take it out of the mould too soon would be my advice. Let the cake cool and firm a bit first.

Lakeland also do a baking release liquid but I've never tried it so I don't know how effective it is.

You are all so helpful, I didn't expect such a response to my plea for help. I have never had much luck with silicone bakeware; my muffin tray and fairy cake cases always let me down too.

I don't have time for a practice run as I have left it rather late to decide to try the mould again (DS2's birthday is Weds)

I will try your suggestions and if all else fails will buy a lovely cake instead

baking release liquid sounds vile, I don't think I will be trying that tbh

Just to let you know my teddy cake worked out OK except for his foot which came a tiny bit unstuck - but I've patched him up and he doesn't look too bad for a first attempt . As long as he tastes OK!

Thanks again for all your help.
