Confusing chicken conundrum

Please help as my brain has given up thinking rationally about this.

I want to make a load of chicken curry for the freezer. Normally I would just use breasts, make the curry, freeze the leftovers.

This time I want to buy a large full chicken so that I can get the most for my money.

So... is it safe to do this?

Buy and cook the chicken today, have some plain chicken for dinner tonight and put the leftover chicken into the fridge to make a curry tomorrow.

Do I make the curry, let it cool, then add cold chicken and freeze? Or do I add the chicken to cook in with the sauce, let the whole lot cool and then freeze?

With the second method the chicken is going to end up cooked, cooled, reheated in the curry, cooled, frozen then reheated again. Is this safe?

Probably a very stupid question but my brain is screaming no at three stages of heating for the chicken.

Arrggh.

I think the rule with chicken is you can cook it once then reheat it once. I would go with cooling the curry then adding the chicken and freezing.
