Maybe I am late to the party here but I discovered that I can buy 3kg of puy lentils for £8:50 delivered from Amazon instead of £5 for the 500g of Merchant Gourmet lentils in the supermarket Shock Shock.

Now, they are from Canada and not France so not called Puy, green speckled or something but definitely worth a shot imo!

this is the most random post ever! Grin

I love to fry up some chorizo and add a load of cooked puy. Yum!

I am feeling a bit random Grin, have worked six long days this week and am in bed with a toasted tea cake, gin and tonic and my dog. All, including my bed, firm favourites.

I cooked with puy lentils yesterday and thought there must be a better/cheaper way of buying them .... Drifts off again.

Morrisons is the cheapest, easiest way of buying them. Although they call them green lentils just to confuse things.

It's not to confuse things - it's because they can only be called Puy lentils if they grow in the Puy area of France!

Ah that makes sense! Yes, I buy lentils by the kilo. Well, 2kg bags because it is cheaper. You just need somewhere to store them

I'm actually out of puy. I'll add it to my shopping list. It is the time of year for warming, hearty dishes.

But green lentils are flat discus shaped things, they need to be called speckled lentils or something.

Yes, Puy are a completely different thing to green over, they hold their shape and texture during cooking. Darker and smaller than green lentils.

Merchant Gourmet don't only do cooked prepacked lentils, they do ordinary dried ones, Puy being one of them.

Canadian green speckled seem to be the same, just not grown in Puy.

Online is definitely best for lentils. I have brown lentils, green lentils, dark green speckled (puy) and red lentils all through BuyWholeFoodsOnline from Amazon.

Love puy lentils in this house. Favourite recipe is bollito misto - I use Gordon Ramsay's recipe.
