Portable buffet food. What can I make?

Need to make a savoury dish for a buffet for a family party. It needs to be portable (car journey in Tupperware), vegetarian and to be served cold. My mind has gone completely blank! Help! Hit me with some suggestions.

Tomato and Basil Tart.

Roll out a square of puff pastry, add a layer of fried or caramelised onions, sliced tomatoes and basil. Bake and top with more basil. It's nice and flat for transport.

Or homity pie- pastry base and garlicky cheesy potato chunks.

This. So easy, tasty and has been popular any time I've made it. I prefer it without the carrots.

Great ideas, thanks everyone! (I especially like the idea of crisps Grin but I think I'm expected to do something a bit more culinary!) The puff pastry sounds easy enough, but does it taste ok cold?

How long will your journey be and before everybody eats? The reason I'm asking is puff pastry goes flabby after a couple of hours you really need to eat those flat tarts as soon as they come out of the oven and cooled slightly. I'd go with the other suggestion of tabbouleh or some hallomui and veg skewers

Is it a finger buffet or will you have forks? Makes a big difference to suggestions!

Journey is short (only fifteen mins) and there will cutlery and plates. Yes, sogginess is what I was worried about with the pastry - I've made puff pastry pies before but only when serving (hot) straight away. Now wondering about some sort of Greek cheese and couscous combo (wary of everyone bringing lots of carbs and there being nothing substantial in the way of protein.

How about a flat bread. Top with Brie and freshly sliced figs, bake, cool sprinkle on rocket and drizzle with honey and sprinkle on toasted pine nuts. Lots of pics on line. Basically a posh pizza but fine to have cold.

what about one of those stuffed loaf sandwiches that James Marting is doing on the asda ads

i like sausage rolls...but I suppose you could do them with veggies sausages, and maybe likewise for scotch eggs...presuming eggs are okay.

Veggie sausage rolls is a brilliant suggestion. As a veggie, I always get really upset when meat ones are on offer and no veggie. They are an essential part of a buffet, I feel.

Otherwise, how about a couple of nice homemade dips, and a load of crudites (carrot sticks, celery, radishes etc) for dipping? All you'd need is a tub each for the dips, and then bag the washed and still damp veggies in sandwich bags for chucking/arranging artistically onto a plate when you get there.

Roasted vegetable couscous - maybe add chickpease for added protein
