So if you don't eat added sugar then what on earth do you do for pudding?

It's all very well this no-added-sugar healthy eating lark, but three days in and I am at a loss for my pudding options.

Am I destined to a lifetime of Greek yoghurt and fruit for afters??

Confused

Banana ice cream :) with cocoa. Or you could cook with dates rather than refined sugars. Surprisingly one green planet does a lot of good dessert recipes.

Fruit salad and cream

Berries and cream. The longer you do this the more you won't miss puddings.

Cream! I'd never thought of cream. Isn't it's horrifyingly calorific though?

I've just made dd pancakes with mashed banana and a few berries in the mix. Could that be a desert? It's yummy.

Do people really have pudding every day?

My lot have yoghurt and fruit for pudding most days.

Do people really have pudding every day?

Yeah we do. Usually something home made like cake. Sometimes yoghurt and fruit. Or even just a couple of squares of dark chocolate.

Yeah we have pudding every day. Else we get ravenous a couple of hours after dinner!

We never have pudding! I didn't realise people did. Just have more main course? Berries aren't going to fill you up for hours if that's the aim.

Just have more dinner... We very rarely eat desert, mainly Xmas/ maybe in restaurant or guest over.

Does anyone have a proper pud, like sticky toffee and the like more than once a week?

Report
ErrolTheDragon · 30/06/2016 16:28

Gosh, I thought people only had pudding on high days and holidays.

Cheese and biscuits?

Instant 'icecream' is good though - I always chop up and freeze any bananas which are getting overripe, then blend with greek/other yog, sometimes with frozen raspberries or some cocoa and almond butter.

I do this three days a week and have fruit or NAS yogurt or a frozen smoothie bar. I don't have dessert every day anyway.
I am more likely to get peckish an hour or two later when I do miss biscuits. I usually go for something like baked crisps or a home made fruit scone (raisins but no sugar).

Avocado chocolate mousse/pudding?
Frozen yoghurt (think if you're making it yourself you can make it sugar free)
Sugar free cakes (I've seen applesauce used, probably still quite sugary though)
Sugar free jelly (if you don't mind artificial sweeteners)
Another option if you like more than one course is to switch it up and do starter and main rather than main and dessert.

Don't do puddings as a rule, the odd Sunday and maybe birthdays, Christmas etc.

It is a bit joyles all these no-pudding houses!

I like a spot of pudding. It is a good way to get a portion of fruit in - chopped up apple with a square of dark chocolate, berries and yog, orrange cut into segments with cinnemon sprinkled over.

Not joyless, it's just genuinely never occurred to me! Never had pudding growing up except Christmas and Sunday lunch at the grandparents, and never had it as an adult. I prefer savoury food anyway so not having pudding takes no joy away at all!

We just don't do puddings, apart from on birthdays or the suchlike. I'm genuinely surprised so many people do!
