This is a nice recipe from Arabella Boxer's Mediterranean Cookbook Sangria 50g sugar 4 tablespoon water 1bottle cheap Spanish red plonk 1 lemon chopped 1 orange chopped 150l cheap Spanish brandy 2 peaches sliced 6 ice cubes 300ml soda water
Make a syrup with sugar and water, allow to cool Pour in all the ingredients except for soda water, ice and peaches chill for 2-3 hours Then pour through a strainer into serving jug and add peaches and ice cubes then chill until needed. (TBH I chuck it all in together and double up the above recipe)
A less-alckie version is to mix a carton orange juice, large bottle of lemonade or Sprite with a bottle of sweetish Spanish red wine but no brandy. Skip the sugar and add slices of orange and chopped mint. Chill and add crushed ice cubes when you serve.
