How about a big picnic thread?

We are optimistically planning a half term picnic with some old friends. As they will have a newborn I have offered to cater for everyone, so I'm looking for inspiration. Would anyone like to join me in a big thread of picnic ideas?

I've wanted to try making a shooter's sandwich for ages (where you hollow out a loaf, fill with chosen fillings, then weigh down before serving), and I'm also planning a Spanish omelette with spinach and sweet potato.

Please share your picnic failsafes!

I made one of those once, hilariously called a muffelata I believe. I sort of based it on a Jamie version but didn't stick exactly to what he put in. It was gorgeous anyway.

I like cake at a picnic.

I came on just to say muffelata. Delicious

Marinated chicken thighs. Mini quiches. Crudités and dips. Chicken satay on skewers. Asian-style noodle salad.

I love picnic food Grin
