Hello,

My son has had glue ear and a friend said that cutting out dairy really helped her daughter so I am going to give it a go.

He is a great eater and I can easily amend his diet to cut out dairy but I wanted to see if anyone has any websites / recommendations? More for variety. I don't want to give him nut milks or soya milk - apart from coconut milk for curries etc.

Thank you in advance!

We barely eat dairy as DH is intolerant. I think if you stick to basics such as pasta, rice, vegetables, meat and fish then you really don't need to worry.

He can still have the usual snacks such as bread, jam, peanut butter, fruit and salads.

It's only yogurt and cheese and milk or cream you need to think about. When a recipe I want to use calls for milk or cream, I just Google an alternative dairy free version.

If you're worried about calcium, dark leafy greens, broccoli and sardines have a lot in them. As do green snap beans.

If you think he won't sit and eat a pile of Kale or cabbage, hide it in sauces. You can shove a few sardines in a fish pie (most kids like it because it's topped with mashed potato and is mild...one or two sardines in the cod or whatever won't affect the taste much)

I would just substitute. So for butter, use pure/vitalite spread instead. For milk, use coconut milk etc. Dairy free is a fairly easy diet to adapt to

For a milk alternative try oat or rice milk.
