Hello

Following on from Justine's post here, we thought it would be good to start a quick thread where you can post the URLs (with titles/descriptions) of your favourite BBC online recipes to preserve them for the nation and, more importantly, the nation's tummies.

To start you off, here's James Martin's Eton Mess: www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/etonmess_81082

Serves four or, if you're in my house, one.

Good plan :o

Antony Worrall Thompson's chocolate chip cookies - still the best recipe for cookies I've ever used, and I've tried quite a few. If you're after the Millie's Cookies texture, this is it.

But isn't the point that the URL won't exist anymore?

lucylove1973 · 17/05/2016 17:33

yeah, but you can print them out

Posting links here won't be them active but you could print the recipe to PDF, save it on a cloud server, share the link to it for everyone.

No the URL will still exist it just won't be searchable/show up in Google results.

BBC Good Food just posted on their instagram that the recipes aren't being cut from online so they'll still be there

I make this Christmas Cake every year. It is the best recipe I have found. Luckily I printed it out a few years ago in case of a disaster like this although the printout is missing the final instruction so I have to look it up for the oven temp. Every. Single. Year. (Never learn)

BBC Press posted on twitter that the BBC Food recipes are being moved from BBC Food to BBC Good Food. It would be best to C&P them into a word document and post them if they aren't on the BBC Good Food site, rather than now. Mumsnet servers have limited storage you know.

Fragrant pilau rice. Gorgeous, easy and foolproof. I've been making it from this recipe (and my own variations on the basic theme) for more than 10 years!

The URLs will still exist, and they still will be searchable in Google. They will just have an 'archive content' notice at the top.

Like this: www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/food/2003/11/parkin_recipe.shtml

It doesn't change anything.

Love the idea of this thread. Will go and have a look through my favourites.

Since it is uncompetitive for the BBC to have the recipes available I wonder who will benefit from them being unsearchable?
