A friend very kindly gave me a trifle bowl for my birthday. Now she, her children and another family are coming for lunch and I would very much like to serve trifle.
I love trifle, but I always think that the booze-soaked sponge is one of the best bits. I've had a look for recipes that are child-friendly, but is seems to me that these will all end up too sweet and lack the edge that alcohol brings.
Please, does anyone have any good ideas for what I could use instead? The six children are all 4 or under so I don't think the parents would appreciate it if I served up an alcoholic pudding and I can't face making two puddings!
Thanks very much.
