I have bought a deep fat fryer. I've never used one. Tips so I don't mess it up!

No one in my family has ever had a fryer, one person is rumoured to have had a chip pan once.

My mother would have a fit if she knew Grin

I want to do southern fried chicken tonight.

Is it an electrical one that plug in?
If so its very safe, much more so than a chip pan.
I had one a long time ago, but ended up getting rid of it as they aren't very healthy - but they do make delicious food.

It's plug in. And dishwasher safe.

I know one Uni (20 or so years ago) provided them in student housing, as they prevented a lot of fires.

I'm sure it will be delicious! Just make sure you have some kitchen rolls just incase.

Change the oil fairly often, it makes a real difference. Also worth putting the oil through a sieve once it's cooled every time you've used it to get the bits out.

Triple cooked chips. Quite a faff but worth it. Lightly par boil peeled and chunkily cut chips, being careful not to overcook. Drain and lay out in a single layer on a baking tray. Freeze for a while. Remove from freezer and deep fry until very lightly golden on a lowish setting. Drain and lay out on a baking tray again, freeze until needed. Finally deep fry from frozen at a high temperature.
