lamb shawarma + what for dinner for 8?

I'm thinking of doing the Ottolenghi Jerusalem recipe for lamb sharwarma this weekend, we have 8 for dinner. Book suggests serving with pita but to make it more of a meal I'm thinking of doing a variation of tabouleh with pomegranate and feta. Any of you who have done the lamb, does this sound good and would you add anything else? Or recommend an alternative?

I'm thinking pita with houmous, tzatziki, olives etc as an appetiser...

I'd offer olives as pre dinner nibbles and forget the appetiser, serve all the bits together. A tomato, cucumber and red onion salad with a sprinkling of coriander, is simple and really lifts the lamb.

Sorry, I'm veggie, so can't comment on the shwarma, but... I think it's from Jerusalem, definitely Ottolenghi - the date, almond, spinach and pitta salad is amazing. That and a really herb-heavy tabouleh, and maybe a chopped salad, along with some pittas would be lovely I reckon

There's a really nice spiced chickpea salad in Jerusalem or I'd have a look at Persiana link below. I did the radish/cucumber one with a slow roasted spiced lamb and it was lush...

Tabouleh would be amazing with it.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I went for the salad with spiced chickpeas in the end and it was delicious. The house still stinks of spices three days later though Hmm!
