How do you guys keep the kids safe in the kitchen?

So, I will have my sister visiting me soon with her husband and a little son who's 2 years old. They've never visited before and I don't really have any experience with kids. He's already walking and I've heard that he's quite a curious little fella. My question is how to make sure that he stays safe without us going insane?

Don't use the front two rings of the hob. Knives away when not in use, at back of worktop when in use. Kettle at back of worktop.

But mostly, keep him out of the kitchen, or always supervised in there if that's not possible.

His parents should keep him safe though!

We had a stair gate across the kitchen doorway to keep them out.
Make sure that you don't have your best crockery etc in a low level cupboard.

Close the door to the kitchen. Grin

But otherwise move nasty cleaning products out of grabbing reach.

Also anything precious and breakable

I had to childproof my whole house last month because I had to look after my nieces for a few weeks. I found an article that really helped me with the whole process, maybe it will help you too. You can check it out here.
