10m old friendly meals....

I know he can have anything except honey and nuts but I often think of some meals as not 10m old friendly... Such as we have venison burgers in the freezer.

What are your fail safe family friendly meals that we will enjoy and he will too?

We love the following as a family: tuna pasta bake, spag bol, lasagne, curry....

Fish pie, any stews or casseroles well loved are often by little ones and easy to mush down Smile

What's wrong with giving him venison burger So? My 10mo loves as much variety as possible.

I'd give him the burger, just cut up so he can pick it up.

Favourites here: carbonara, chilli con carne, sausages and pasta, chicken drumsticks (14 month old loves these, we remove skin and cut chicken into strips for him)

Course a 10 month old can have nuts. Just not whole ones which are a choking hazard.

I thought venison might be a bit too rich but I'll give him a try with it.

Perhaps I was advised wrongly? I have always been told no nuts or honey?

Thanks for the ideas Haahooooo Do you spice your chilli?

No honey for under 1s due to risk of botulism. Nuts are fine unless there is a family history of allergies to nuts in which case you need specialist advice. No peanuts until 5yo still seems to be the predominant advice.

I cook with all the herbs and spices we normally use, just no added salt and DS is fine with it.

Second that they can of course have nuts!

For supper my 10mo just had some leftover potato and aubergine bake along with some slices of abocado and cherry toms and a satsuma.

Almost anything works for a ten month old although mine has started to be weirdly fussy about fruit apart from satsumas and bananas.

I tend to do the chilli quite mild with garlic and a tiny bit of chilli powder for flavour.

Actually fajitas is another idea. My DC both like eating the component parts: chicken, avocado, kidney beans, sweet corn, grated cheese etc

No whole nuts till 5.

Peanut butter is recommended by many hv as a tasty source of fat and protein for under ones! Smile There is no need to wait till 5.

Peanut and cashew butters, ground almonds or crushed nuts in baking are fine..

Actually recent research has found that countries that use peanuts/peanut butter as a key part of weaning have the lowest incidence of peanut allergy... It seems that telling pregnant women to avoid peanuts and not giving them to young children has only increased the rate of allergies...
