Rice pudding help needed!

I can't stand the stuff but we had some pudding rice in cupboard from ages ago when I made some as a treat for DH. Thought it would be nice to make some for the toddler DSs but with some fruit in. I just chucked some chopped rhubarb into the pan with the rice & milk & it's curdled the milk... Will it be edible or do I need to fabricate some other "special dessert" that the eldest is expecting?

Urgh, I hate rice pudding!

I'm vaguely poking at it in the hope that the rice will soak up all the liquid & the curds will just melt into the rice-i-ness! Hmm

Just keep poking - it will be fine.

I love rice pudding. But not with rhubarb! Let it cook slowly and you might need more sugar

It's about 1.5 oz of rice to a pint of milk with maybe 1-2 oz of sugar (more for rhubard I'd have thought)

In the oven for about 1 to 1hr 30 mins

i am all for winging it nad flinging stuff in to cook, but I think you may have gone a step too far

for next time, make the rice pudding...slow cooker or oven, not in a pan, it's never as nice, and cook the rhubarb separately. If you wash it, chop it and put it into the oven in a dish with a generous shake of sugar it's amazing...it cooks in the water/juice and sugar

Will be the acid in the rhubarb has curdled it. Will not poison you to eat it but may not be pleasant.

DH likes dessicated coconut or dried fruit in his & frozen blueberries makes it purple!
