can i substitute fresh ginger for ground dried ginger in a curry?

im about to make a beef curry for tea and the recipie says fresh ginger. i dont have any and im not going to go to the shop if i can get the same result with dried. will it make much difference?

Yes you can use a pinch but it won't taste quite as nice.

you can, but it won't be quite as good. By the way - fresh ginger freezes really well and can be grated from frozen - just chuck it back in the freezer again to use next time when you have grated off enough (so you CAN have fresh ginger as a storecupboard ingredient!)
