What can I do with it that's not pasta based? All I can come up with is variations of carbonara!

Soup!
Makes yummy soup with mixed veg and good stock, or split peas, carrots, onion and stick all blended before adding gammon.

I deliberately buy extra gammon to snaffle for my soups.

I was going to suggest soup too. I make a lovely ham and pea soup with a bit of fresh mint as well (we prefer to the roast ham!).

Minced up with horseradish and cheese and put on toast. Just warm it slightly under the grill. A sort of Welsh Rarebit.

Chopped up through cabbage and potato, or chopped through cauliflower cheese-yum!

Gammon is surprisingly nice shredded then stir fried with a tbsp of honey and the usual stirfry veg and noodles, my lot go nuts for it. Smile

We are having the simple option of gammon, fried egg and potato wedges with our leftovers tonight. I also use it to make chicken and gammon pie, just means cooking a chicken breast or two.

Minestrone, or pea and ham soup, etc

But if is a big enough piece, slices of gammon can be fried as a very superior bacon, or in ham sandwiches.

There is no particular difference between cooked gammon and ham.

Thanks all. I'm going with a thai stir fry tonight and cauliflower cheese on Wednesday. It was a big jointGrin

I usually have it with cauliflower cheese and baked potatoes and then on the third day make special fried rice with it :)

Or egg, chips, pineapple and peas.

Shredded into hot cooked rice - I add fried onions/ chopped hard boiled eggs/ frozen peas,/ anything else I need to use up! mix thoroughly and add mayonnaise/ salad cream / salt and pepper to taste, eat while still warm. Firm favourite here :)
