What to make with damsons that isn't jam?

Neighbour just brought round a big box of damsons.
I'm not sure what to make with them - I don't like damson jam and I'm trying to cut down on puddings for me and DS as he is putting on weight.

I guess I should pass them on!

Spiced damson chutney. Easy to make and so much better than the bought stuff. There is a good recipe in Delia's Complete Cookery Course.

We make wine, gin, clafoutis, jam, jellies, and eat them nice and fresh. If I had more than I knew what to do with I'd stone and then just pack them into large glass jars, add some sugar and get some cheap gin or brandy and pour them over - they will keep in the alcohol and be able to be eaten over then next few years as and when you need them.

The chutney sounds like a good idea.
And the gin....

Gin! And once you've drunk the gin, the boozy fruit is lovely with ice cream!

I made that chutney last weekend and it is lush! Well it will be I am sure.... I added a lot of chilli to the recipe though because I wanted it hot.

We've made jam and gin - did the same last year and the gin is fabulous. I got the cheap gin from aldi and it does the job nicely.
