Recipes from any books by these authors, there's a wealth of BC online but not so much of FR but I did find a few. Off to the library on Saturday to see what I can find. Any recommendations?

No recommendations from me, but just marking my place in case I find one of the books at the library where I will have to pay a fine because I've just realised our books were due on Tuesday

They have a FR in our library, and I've ordered a couple of Ina's books to come in too :)

Have books by both.... ina uses a LOT of salt, butter and cream! Fay has some useful family recipes I think. I use her bung in the oven bolognaise, mint chicken, tomato risotto (even loved by tomato hating ds1) quite often. All from her first book which I think is her best.

Didn't have a copy of FR after all but just been to library and I've got it out been through it and there are some recipes I've earmarked for September I've also ordered a barefoot contessa book so am all prepared for next month.

No fay ripley or ina garten in my library, so I'll have to sit this month out. Probably best as I have a busy month and am not at home that much anyway.

May I make a request for Mary berry and/or paul Hollywood for next month? Seems fitting as the Great British Bake Off will be well underway by then and I don't think we have done either.

Good idea science I have a couple of Bake Off books and DS2 wants me to make fig and hazelnut bread like they have in M&S, hopefully Mr H can oblige with a recipe.

Btw lots and lots of IG recipes online if you get a chance to look. Like you I'm away a lot this month so won't be doing much. The FR book from the library is going to be a week or two I think.

I have a few Mary berry books and I have the bake off book too. Think we did a Paul Hollywood book a few months back but may have imagined that!

I've ordered a Fay Ripley and a Barefoot Contessa from the library. Not much choice on the BC, almost all out on loan. She's clearly popular in Edinburgh!

Would have to order either in to our library so going to stick to online this time definitely not buying this month

We did do Paul H but Mary B or bake off would be fun

Bake off would definitely be good.

Made two BC recipes this week, Chicken and wild mushrooms which was okay but nothing really special, and Raspberry crumble bars which were delicious and really quick and simple to make.
I think it's a good store cupboard recipe too, as it only has a few ingredients. I didn't have any granola without fruit so I crushed up some oats and honey special k cereal instead!

Made Amelia's jambalaya (minus the prawns) from BC this week, was very nice although I think I still prefer my usual recipe (an Emeril Lagasse one). I'm never sure what sausage to use instead of andouille in jambalayas, I've used polish smoked sausage before but they've recently removed the polish food section from our supermarket so I ended up using bratwurst, which was nice and garlicky but not smoky.

Also made the Simple Sachertorte from Fay Ripley's What's for Dinner. Very easy to make but looks impressive, and so rich we can only eat tiny slivers of it. Definitely needs some cream to serve with it.

I can recommend quite a few Fay dishes. Not the chicken curry in What's for Dinner (v dull) but the chicken with broad beans and rice is good weeknight fare, the bolognaise is tasty and the smoked haddock in cheesey sauce is good (all from her first book). The choc banana cake (definitely more cake than bread) from the second book is lovely. And there's a lemon pistachio cake in the third which is very nice. Will try more..

Not participating this month as I don't have the books (and neither does my library) but wanted to share with like minded people my excitement over my Cool Chile parcel that arrived today. Guajillo chillis, chipotle powder, achiote paste, fresh tortillas, tomatillos... I'm very excited to be getting back into Thomasina Miers' recipes again!

Grin I have tomatillos in the fridge courtesy of veg box. We've been sneaking in a few TM recipes this month too. I've picked up FR from library but have yet to cook from it or BC as yet, I've been very lax this month. Will be back on board ASAP.

We had tomatillos too Pantah in our box. I made a lovely salsa from Thomasina on Saturday, and served with crispy skinned sea bass and Thomasina's courgette and corn salad. Mmm.

Back home and have got stuck in with IG plum tart (online) to sort out a glut. Extraordinarily easy and jolly tasty . It's basically crumble with walnuts smooshed up as the base, then sliced plums, then more crumble. Mmm.

Have made a couple more recipes from FR, No meat meaty lasagne, and sticky snags with colly stuffed jackets. The lasagne was great and we all loved it, especially 15mo ds, I'll definitely make it again. The sticky snags were also good, but not that much different from other sticky sausage recipes I use (I actually prefer Nigella's recipe) and the colly jackets were okay but then I'm not keen on cauliflower so I was never going to love them.

Fay R salmon with goats cheese wrapped in Parma ham is incredibly easy and very tasty - really nice; had it for lunch.
The kids loved the popcorn fish too.
