Super six (their chosen cheapest fruit and vegetables).

Joints, fresh or frozen, which you then freeze.

Ground coffee.

Stay away from the middle aisle!

Montepulciano D'abruzzo red wine. It's chianti like, so if you like that type of wine, get some. Prosecco is very nice too.

the middle aisle is the best Grin full of stuff we didnt know we needed , the jam is lovely my dh says 30p (i think) he loved it was an impulse buy now he only eats that, also the crackers are nice i eat whole packets I also buy fresh chicken and bacon milk and bread, I am not in that often but that is what i buy when i am in, oh the rose wine is lovely and crisps i like their crisps

The Pringle-like crisps, any nuts, Parma ham, the corner-type yogurts the kids love, not from concentrate fruit juice, dried pasta. All those are much cheaper than anywhere else! My favourite is the Parma ham. Or in fact, any of that sort of continental meat.

Not everything is cheaper than the big supermarkets - tube yogurts are the example I can think of that's the same everywhere.

Are you going as well as or instead of your normal shop?

Chocolate cheesecake. Small juice cartons for lunchboxes.
Chocolate - the small bars with marzipan in are addictive.
Biscuits. Veg. Meat.

Not wild about the crisps - don't get the fake lurpak spreadable.

MirandaGoshawk · 22/04/2014 12:02

Chocolate - the Moser Roth stuff not the super cheapo stuff.
Fruit & veg - their red grapefruit are huge, fresh & juicy! Good lettuces too. But you need to be picky, sometimes they have veg going bad.
Olive oil
Rice
Butter & cheese
Naice ham (the foreign stuff). The Basil ham, for example, really tastes of basil.
Wine - is very good & very cheap!

Oh, and their honey - the fancy pants one that's about £10 in Sainsbo's is £2 or £3 in Aldi.

Their Q10 face cream.

YY to stay away from the 'Square of Treasure' in the middle. You don't need any of it. Hopefully it will be 'Motorbike Week' or 'Welding Mask week' or something.

I do top up shops there but have never managed to get a weekly shop due to family fussiness. I am not overly keen on their bread, it's as if it's just defrosted or something-not sure.

Cheeses, cold meats, juice, milk and storecupboard stuff fine.

CoconutAmericano · 22/04/2014 12:24

Oh yes their Moser Roth 85% dark chocolate is fab and it comes in 5 pieces, each one perfect coffee break size!

Go down the centre aisle! I got a great cc cream in there last week for £4.99, it's fab. I can't think of anything in there that we don't like, Sunday's leg of lamb was around * quid and it was handsome Grin

Report
DavenotChas · 22/04/2014 12:39

Ahem, that would be 8 quid.

Would go along with most of the above - chocs, smoked salmon, cheese, fruit and veg. Washing up liquid (pink grapefruit) also good - and baby wipes.

Couple of things we didn't like - Activia-style bio yogurts were tasteless. Value tissues are cheaper and better at Lidl - anticipating the hay fever season.
