Who here has a roast dinner on Sundays?

Another thread got me thinking. Do most people still do this? Every week, or just sometimes? I occasionally cook a veggie roast in the winter, but not specifically on a Sunday, and never in the daytime.

Are you all washing sprouts, or having a sandwich like us?

We don't have one every week and even on a Sunday. But we are having one today. Actually it's more of a treat than a regular thing. It's probably once every couple of months really. I'm really looking forward to it today, however it will be totally sproutless

We have one probably every couple of months, but it is an early evening one rahter than at lunch time. (I actually really like sprouts) . Really fancy one now though .

not in the summer, too heavy & not cold enough.

we try but it's gone a bit hay wire since it's been so hot.
DH makes it while we're at church. We are hoping that it will help the DSs with their appalling eating habits and table manners.....

we always have a full one when we visit the inlaws, naturally, which is served at 2pm when fil gets back from the pub.

but we also have our own version for days at home which is a roasty-type dinner at around 6pm on a sunday made with lots of roasted veggies, something veggie for me and a pie for dh from the butchers. i love it.

Always have a proper cooked meal at some point on a Sunday and fairly often a roast.

very occasionally, maybe once every two months I will do a "roast dinner" with roast potatoes, gravy etc.
I will no doubt do it today because I would do almost anything to avoid the work I haveto do

a roast dinner?

oh - god - my sides will split from laughter

they're lucky if they even get anything to eat on Sundays

We never have one for two reasons, dp and dss are veggie so I occasionally do a Quorn roast but never at lunchtime. Just wasn't brought up to eat a main meal in the middle of the day.

I am sooo lucky. DH works away for 2 weeks and we go to my mums for a lovely roast and when dh is here we go down the pub and have it. They do a fantastic roast at the pub/restaurant down the road.

We have one most Sundays in the winter, I love sprouts and in case Carmenere is reading this, I love Bathchelors Marrowfat peas.

Right that's decided I will surprise dh with a roast when he gets home tonight (it is one of his favourite meals and it will help butter him up to agree to buying my new house).

Almost every week in the winter, spring and autumn. Now the weather's cooled down again, we've started this summer too.

Roast (boned, leg of) lamb with garlic and rosemary today.

This thread has me salivating at the idea of a Sunday roast now, dp has taken dd out for the day, I'm considering going to the pub for lunch by myself

Only any good if you make sure they go mushy.

We nearly always have a roast on sundays (though in the evening not at lunchtime)-simply because everyone in the family loves it. But Sunday lunch has been 'get your own from whatever's in the fridge/cupboard' ever since ds & dd were old enough to do it sensibly. Now they're 16 & 18 & both at home after exams they get all their lunches themselves, and often mine too (I work in a school, so I'm around during the holdays)

Get yourself over here, we are having lemon stuffed chicken with roasty tates and veg and lots of wine.

Sunday roast here most weeks.

Today we are having roast chicken, roast tatties and parsnips, cauliflower, cbutternit squash with onions, followed by rice pudding.

But that is for supper tonight.

Soup for lunch

We always have a Sunday Roast - about 6pm.

However, not this week as dh is away and I can't be bothered

We haven't had a roast for weeks now what with the heatwave (remember that?!) and days out etc but I've just done all the veg etc for a Roast Beef dinner this afternoon.

We have a roast almost every Sunday. It's probably the most successful meal we have in that all the children eat it without complaining, including all the veggies. We have it in the dining room all at the same time and it is frightfully civilised.
