Canapés with a Burns/Scottish theme?

I have 4 total strangers visiting this weekend, from abroad. I've invited them mid afternoon so to miss lunch/dinner. I thought it might be nice to do a selection of canapés to serve with drinks (or maybe tea...not sure if they drink).

Anyone have any ideas or tried and tested recipes for me? I thought maybe I'd include haggis since it is burns night this weekend.

Cut squares of puff pastry with a little bit of haggis pressed into them and baked. Or do 'shots' of haggis, neeps and tatties if you have enough any shot glasses?

Cranachan for a pudding one, serve in shot glasses/small bowls

Little colcannon cakes

Anything with smoked salmon

I've seen prawns in a whiskey sauce that seemed very popular (no recipe sorry but google should find one!)

I'd do something with smoked salmon. Maybe potato scones with cream cheese and smoked salmon on top.

You can buy haggis Bon bons - canapé haggis! Available in supermarkets at this time of year.

Tablet for a sweet one - great with coffee. Unless you feel like deep-frying mars bars ...

Historically I only ever make tablet when I'm up the duff. I'll maybe make some just to see DH's face! There is a tin of condensed milk in the cupboard, now that I think of it.

Do blinis but with warmed potato scones - use a cutter to cut out wee circles, then do some smoked salmon, tiny bit of creme fraiche and a little caviar if you're pushing the boat out, bit of dill if not.

Smokie pate on bannocks.

Those 'cocktail' haggis things are just plain nasty; they simply don't taste anything like the "great chieftain o' the pudding race..."

That's disappointing, mrspremise - I was looking forward to buying them. I thought the concept was great.

I saw in Waitrose that you can buy packs of two circular "slices" of haggis. Plenty of scope there for cutting out smaller circles to put on blinis, etc, then you can also do the smoked salmon ones, would look lovely.

Haggis bonbons are lovely if well made and they're heaven when dipped into whisky sauce

I made lentil and bacon soup served with butteries' but my company had already eaten lunch, so my kids had that.

For nibbles... Due to not being able to buy haggis Bon bons, I made sausage rolls, but instead of sausage meat I used haggis. I used the jus roll puff pastry sheet. They went down a storm. I didn't make tablet but did serve jam doughnuts and Tunnocks tea cakes with tea I had wine

I have mini scotch pies in the fridge along with smoked salmon and cream cheese to be used up, yum.

Thanks for all the ideas.
