I love this show! It's entertaining and I also enjoy watching real people make food. Been thinking about what I enjoy cooking and I make a lovely Massaman curry and last year I made a chocolate terrine which was gorgeous. Not so hot on starters tho, maybe something yummy with prawns.

Would love to know what you would make ( and any actual recipes would be great too..!)

Omg I'm so hungry at the thought! Some smoked salmon pate with homemade lightly toasted bread and rocket.

For the main course would have to be chateaubriant steak with chips or sweet potatoes with peppercorn sauce.

Dessert - a lemon dessert, like possett? that cleanses the mouth after all that. Or melt-in-the-mouth mini sponges with raspberry coulis.

Mini chocolate sponges that is. And chateaubriand Hmm tut

No chance of me making it though, too finicky Smile

Ooh, I've thought about this (though would never do CDWM).

Starter: Grilled beef onglet salad with Dijon mustard dressing

Main: Pumpkin ravioli

Dessert: Baklava

(Though if I got too stressed out, I'd just make a huge pot of mac and cheese and run away)

Amuse Bouche: espresso cups of my super sexy pea soup

Starter: prawns baked in garlic butter with crusty bread for dipping

Main: fillet steaks, gratin dauphinoise, mixed salad

Cheese board and Sauternes

Dessert: Mini chocolate fondants with raspberries

I would try and keep it quite neutral in terms of dishes as I wouldn't know their individual tastes and wouldn't want to spend all the time in the kitchen ignoring the guests

Pear, brie and walnut salad or figs with Parma ham

Beef Wellington with seasonal baby veg or salmon en croute. I might also do chicken ballatine wrapped in pancetta, fondant potato, baby veg and a Madeira sauce

Panna cotta with summer fruits or summer pudding with clotted cream

Quail with asparagus and poached duck egg yolk

Followed by

Pork belly homemade toffee apples and creamy mash

I get stressed easily so I would prepare a lot in advance.

Starters: soup. Possibly carrot and coriander. Homemade bread
Main: duck with red cabbage and garlic potatoes
Dessert: very retro but possibly trifle (fancy individual dishes) or baileys cheesecake

Ooo I've often thought about this. I think I'd go asain themed as it's my strongest area and I did a great dinner party like this once:

Starter: A sushi selection (maybe some nigiri, tempura, big maki rolls, a seaweed salad thing). Although I'd make the raw fish optional.

Main: Either char sui pork or crispy duck with some garlicky greens and rice.

Desert: a coconut creamy fruity mousse with biscuits. Served with hot sake.

I can't decide on entertainment or not though - it seems risky. What entertainment would you provide?

I love the look of your menu bzoo, but what exactly are pork belly toffee apples?

that should be 'creme fraiche', MN clearly dislikes the correctly placed accents Grin

Sorry should have said with homemade miniature toffee apples.

Use a melon baller on an apple. Coat in toffee. Use a tiny stick. Voila!

Can't cook but would take advantage of some decent meals elsewhere for thr rest of the week.

Starter: cheese and onion crisps
Main: jam sandwiches
Pudding: mars bar, kit kat and twix trio.
Washed down with diet coke.

Entertainment: dog agility.

Any takers?

Lettucesnow I would love to come to your dinner party if my dog could join in the agility and I could put my cheese and onion crisps into my jam sandwich (mmmmm....)

I want to go to lettuces

Ok I've thought about this a lot. Perhaps too much. Key thing is not to leave yourself too much to do cos then you get all flushed and all the 'not a great host' comments start flying so:

Starter: mezze: homemade falafel, humous, baba ganoush, little flatbreads.

Main: either the Ottolenghi lamb shwarma which is quite honestly the nicest thing I've ever put in my mouth, or salmon coubillac with magic hollandaise sauce that doesn't need any attention (obvs havent invented this yet) or super rare roast beef with the trimmings.

Desert: Eton mess with home made meringue or home made ice cream with hazelnut brittle.

Tons of wine. Like a lake.

Proftondo- yours is my favourite. Closely followed by bzoo. Though lettuces sounds funGrin

I play this every time I watch and my menu is always different , today I think i'd make

Starter- roast squash with chilli and garlic, on a salad of winter leaves and rocket with torn mozzarella to cool the chilli a bit.

Main- venison saddle roasted with colcannon and roasted beetroot crisps in a port based sauce. - potato and spinach gnocchi in a sage butter sauce for any veggies.

Dessert- caramelised orange cake, with homemade orange and honeycomb ice cream.

Mm, I'd demolish yours too, pregnantpause! Grin

Would ANYBODY do entertainment? I always think, when I'm watching CDWM, that I'd boot anyone who dragged me away from my food/bevy to watch somebody doing poi on a balcony, some local band doing Mustang Sally in a tent in the garden or a burlesque dancer waving nipple tassles all over the leftovers.

If I had to, I'd probably just whip out my 90s Trivial Pursuit board and bore everyone away.

That said, I like the sound of Lettuce's agile dog. Smile
