Well, 3 of them actually. Donated from my sister's veg patch. Any advance on 'stuff with mince'?

Put directly into the bin. Marrow is vile.

Marrow jam - loved it as a kid. No idea of recipe, though.

I'd second the previous poster. They look very impressive growing but are bleedin 'orrible.

Oh god, marrow jam sounds like something from the Ministry of Food.

What about if I deskinned and chopped them small and sauteed with lots of garlic & onion? They're actually courgettes left too long (or is that what all marrows are?)

Cut it into chunks; steam lighly until nearly cooked, then finish cooking by stir-frying it with some diced chorizo. Toss through some cooked pasta Smile

I was talking to a lady in our allotment about marrows yesterday, she said she makes prawn curries. From what I remember she fries onions and garlic, then adds turmeric, cumin, coriander seeds - and 2 other spices that I have temporarily forgotten! - then adds prawns, then adds sliced marrow - the marrow goes in at the end and makes the curry more liquid. I am quite tempted to try this myself. (If I can remember the other spices!)

Do what my Dad did,

strip down to pair of tarzan type tight budgie smugglers, then get someone to take a pic of you holding it, whilst you look at it lovingly.

Marrow also makes lovely soup, just dice & fry up in butter with onions and garlic, add water or stock and wizz in a blender. Yum!

I have a feeling they will just lodge in my fridge for a couple of months before I give in & chuck them out...

Frying or roasting in olive oil, lemon and garlic is very good. Love marrow, feel free to chuck them this way.

You could grate the marrow and use it like zucchini (courgette) and make zucchini bread!

from about.co
This is a delicious zucchini bread made with shredded zucchini, cinnamon, vanilla, and chopped nuts.
Ingredients:
•2 cups shredded raw zucchini
•3 eggs
• 1 3/4 cups sugar
•1 cup vegetable oil
•2 cups flour
•1/4 teaspoon baking powder
•2 teaspoons baking soda
•2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon salt
•2 teaspoons vanilla
•1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans or any nuts you like
Preparation:
Put zucchini in strainer and press or squeeze with hands to get some of the excess liquid out. In a mixing bowl beat eggs, sugar, and oil together. Stir in the flour, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, salt, vanilla, and walnuts, mixing just until all ingredients are combined. Add drained zucchini. Mix well. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pans. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes at 350°, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out with very little or no crumbs clinging to it.

This is a recipe for cooking marrow with shrimps.

LAU CHINGRI (MARROW WITH SHRIMPS)
You need
Shrimps ( cleaned & deveined) - 50g
Cooking Oil - 2 Tbsp
Marrow peeled - 200g
Bay Leaf - 1
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Panch Phoron (see below) - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
To make Marrow with Shrimp:
First grate the bottle gourd, discarding the seeds.
Heat oil in a pan. Add and sauté the Panch Phoran and bay leaf. Add the ginger garlic paste and cook until light gold.
Add marrow, and cook covered till tender, stirring now and then.
Add Shrimps and sauté over a high flame just for a few seconds.
Mix in the red chilli powder and 1 cup of hot water.
Stir fry till shrimps are done. Serve hot with rice! Enjoy!

To make Panch Phoron:
Mix equal quantities of fenugreek seeds , cumin seeds , fennel seeds, mustard seeds and nigella seeds.
If you cannot get any of the above seeds, leave them out. Just cumin seeds and fennel seeds will do.

Just cut the marrow into big pieces, peel, and then grate it for the zucchini bread, or cut into small chunks for the Marrow with Shrimp, or
The marrow for the Shrimp curry doesn't need to be grated.
Persians make a marrow jam with rosewater and cardamom. mmmm..

Cut in half, scoop out the seeds & then chop & roast each marrow with half a bulb of garlic & a bit of olive oil until the edges are slightly charred. Remove from oven, whizz up with chicken stock & add salt, pepper & lots of freshly chopped parsley. Tastes amazing & freezes really well too.
