Our lovely neighbour has given me 10kg, yes really, 10kg of plums.

I need inspiration.

I've already made stewed plum compote, will make jam and use some in chutney, and will make plum crumble and sponge.

Apart from freezing them, what else can I do with them?
But what else can I do with plums? I've put 4 kg in the freezer f

Chinese 'hoisin' plum sauce springs to mind. And have a Chinese style feast with Pancakes and duck and spring onions etc.
Steamed plum sponge.
Plums make a lovely unusual sorbet - add cloves or cinnamon if you like.
Plum juice is quite nice as a drink and can be frozen too.
Or steep in brandy for Christmas.

Compotes or jam.

My mum made this Plum and Cinnamon Jam the year before last which was very good.

Lovely suggestions. Hadn't thought of plum sauce for with duck, brilliant. DH will hopefully make plum ice cream so will suggest sorbet too.

I love plum and ginger jam but going to try plum and cinnamon. Yum.

Not what you asked, but when you do crumble make sure you add oats and ginger to the topping, it's divine! And send it all to me!

Plum brandy

Aldi brandy, sugar, plums, vanilla, cinnamon, in a big Kilner jar. I got a recipe online.

Lethal but lovely, on a cold day. Also good for soaking fruit for Christmas cakes and puddings.

Our local sure start take my excess fruit and offer it at the end of each play session. Any local churches or groups who might benefit?

I could always swap for apples, apples and more apples.

I came on to say what MortfiedAdams did - my gran used to make it but with shortcrust I think. Divine.

No way Cyan, the crumble is all mine! Love oats in crumble, makes such a difference.

I love, love, love, the tart suggestion. I could eat a whole marzipan block, never thought of putting it with pastry and plums, genius. That's tomorrow's pudding sorted.

Am BF so no boozing at the moment but off to Aldi tomorrow for brandy. Have a load of Kilner jars so that's a load of Xmas presents sorted.

Thanks everyone. Feeling inspired.

Have off loaded 4kg today in the school playground. I'm now very popular. Felt a bit like a dealer as I handed out kilo bags to mum pals!

Lovely.

Next time you make plum crumble, add a few oats plus some flaked almonds to the crumble mix and (this is the exciting bit) add a (large) slug of Amaretto to the custard. Really want some now.

Ahh - just seen no booze BUT most of it would evaporate anyway.
