Help me fill my cupboards!

We moved in with my parents last month, all of our food has either been thrown, eaten or swallowed up by Mum's cupboards.

We are due to move in about 6 weeks and I have no food! Can you tell me what cupboard staples I should buy so I can rebuild my stocks.

Cupboards used to be full of stuff I bought thinking I would use but I didn't. Refuse to get that way again!

Thanks!

What do you normally cook?

My cupboards have everything I would need to bake, dried spices, baked beans, pasta, pearl barly, stock cubes.

And many many many packets of stuff I never use but buy when I'm hungry.

I put together a basic store cupboard box for DS1 the other day as he's moved into a houseshare Grin. It included seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, vinegars, cumin, coriander and cinnamon, oils, tinned beans, toms, mustards, peanut butter, sugar, tea, etc.... Think there is a list in one of the Jamie O books for store cupboard essentials, DS just has to add meat, veg and dairy now. He's a good cook so pretty sure he'll be adding more.

Wow thank you!

Lots of food for thought!

We eat anything really! Cupboards used to be full of spices that I only used once or twice (saffron and 5 spice mainly!).

Might just check out Jamie's book. My plan is to use what I buy so I don't have 5 years out of date stuff!

I'm jealous. My cupboards are stuffed full of all sorts some of which I've hardly used. I wish I could just toss it all out and start again. I have a little fantasy of being so organised that I would have a back up cupboard that I'd replenish once something went into kitchen cupboard iykwim. You could do it when you're starting off from scratch and you'd never run out of anything again. Your first big shop would be mighty expensive right enough having to buy two of everything but what a domestic goddess you'd be!
