European food ideas for Eurovision - I need inspiration!

We're having a very small gathering for Eurovision as usual but I want to do some lovely food based on the countries competing. (Yep, I have nothing better to do this week). Was thinking finger food/canape size things as there will be 20 countries! Some should also be drinks I suppose! So..anyone know any lovely things I could make from any of these countries? (These are the ones that are in so far - 2nd semi-final tomorrow!)

Ireland
UK
France
Germany
Spain
Italy
Estonia
Denmark
Sweden
Russia
Ukraine
The Netherlands
Lithuania
Belarus
Moldova
Belgium

OR I could always lay it out like a buffet and stick flags in it...

I was thinking meatballs too! Found an 'irish' cocktail with guiness and champagne - a black velvet? A few of those and I don't think anyone will notice the food!

Ooo or a mini guinness, it's tia maria in a shot glass the carefully pour baileys over the back of a teaspoon and it should sit on top and look like a guiness. Quite tricky though. You may have to drink the first few in the interests of research.

for Russia blinchiki - little thin pastry roll-ups (with apple for instance). Blinis are just like thin crumpets really.

Or if you have a Russian foodstore nearby, I like Russian salami. Our favourite is largely horsemeat (sorry!) with red wine and not too spicy - moskovskaya. Not sure of the brand, just buy it by sight. I'd serve that thinly sliced if you can get it.

I'm going to a 'bring a dish' Eurovision party on Saturday - sure there will be lots of pizza and chorizo and the like but I'm planning to show off a bit by making Varenyky - Ukranian stuffed dumplings. I just Googled the recipe, they look yummy!

How about crostini with mozzarella, tomato and basil to represent all the colours of the Italian flag?! 1 down, 19 to go! Oh, and flavoured vodka shots - Russia. Although I love the idea of the mock Guinness NumTum!

Ireland - potatoes - chips or baked
UK - Yorkshire pudding, shortbread
France - wine
Germany - beer
Spain - sangria
Italy - ice cream
Estonia - no idea
Denmark - no idea
Sweden - meatballs
Russia - borsch
Ukraine - bread
The Netherlands - more chips, herring or pork
Lithuania - no idea
Belarus - no idea
Moldova- no idea
Belgium - beer

Do you have the rule that you can only eat/drink the food for the current song? Or is that just me.

I need a bit of inspiration too, this is a very last minute gathering so I am chasing my tail. Plus I have a lot of food intolerances and fussiness to contend with. I am starting with Bucks Fizz (obviously) and will serve some Nice N cheesy canapés. I am kinda struggling with the rest, I am toying with Mille Feuille for pud as that was Napoleans fave dessert and was linked to his downfall at Waterloo (apparently) and some Macedoine des fruits for those that can't eat the former with some icecream. As Macedonia seems to turn up more often than not. Main course I am struggling with...was going to do (Boom) Bang (a) Bang Chicken but someone can't have soy and someone doesn't do spicy. So that might be out although I am resigned to having to do at least two options. Or I thought Congratulations! Cacciatore with Winning Irish Baked Spuds. I am tackling it from a slightly different angle than most of you but any help appreciated. I am also having Nul Points (Petis Pois) soup as my starter. I am wondering if I should have just gone buffet style to be honest.
