They are pretty salty, I have some baby ones that don't have salt, but they are vegetable flavor. I suppose it's better than nothing though. I have thought about a pot roast, yes. Thank you for your ideas.
I currently have beef braising in the sc, just with red wine, water and mushrooms - but obviously you can't do that.
Have you thought about a pot roast? Brisket in the middle, squeeze as many veg round the brisket, por over boiling water and put in the oven for a couple of hours.
Just to braise I'd put chopped onion and garlic in the bottom, meat on top rubbed with plain flour to thicken the gravy, season well with herbs, maybe a bit of chilli or paprika instead of a stock cube.
Pour boiling water on, either half way and keep checking, of completely cover but reduce on the hob before serving.
I know you shouldn't use a stock cube but could you use 1/2 one? I know they are salty but are they that salty <clueless>
I've never made braised beef before, I think I know what to put into the pot, but I would like some recipes you've tried and enjoyed. I have a brisket that's .6kg so how long do I cook it for and at what temp? I'm going to cook it in a big cast iron pot in the oven as my slow cooker is tiny.
I need a salt free and alcohol free recipe as my 9 month old will be tucking in as well! This sadly means I shouldn't can't use beef stock cubes, so will the gravy be flavorful enough?
