Hi all, iv never tried this before, iv got a small gammon joint (750g) and a 2 litre bottle of full fat coca cola. I have a large slow cooker that iv never used... Please somebody help me.
Put it in. Pour coke over. Turn it on. Seriously. Thats it.
Really? Do I need to score it? Then do I just poke it in a bit till its cooked thru? Thanks so much. I found a recipie but it was for a big joint. Do I cover the meat with coke?
I would say put the coke about half way up the joint. Scoring isnt really needed unless you want to cook the fat selarate after. It wont go crispy in the slow cooker.I cooked a 2kg joint on low for 10 hours. So for 750g maybe 6 hours? It will create a lot of its own juices so you dont want to put too much coke in or it will overflow.
Separate not selarate!
I boil the ham for a few minutes and then drain before putting in coke.
I soak the ham overnight to get rid of the salt. Then ham, pour of coke and onto Cooke. Job done.
Thank you everyone, iv left it to soak and il put it in in the morning.
