grin at limp willies!

I got a slow cooker for Christmas, so far done beef bourginion, got the recipe online. Also did a green lentil dish which was yum, just puy lentils, some sweated off onion, garlic and chopped spring onions and veg stock for about 4 hours on high. Doing a beef casserole today, got some shin of beef, swede, parsnips, celery and carrots and some stock. It's been on since 11 and we're having it for tea. Will let u know how it turns out!

another easy one is tin of baked beans, garlic, splosh of white wine, herbs, onion, stock pot (no water), perhaps teasp diijon, tom sauce and pork, though would also work with sausages or chicken. could also add fried bacon lardons and mushrooms.

The easiest curry in the world
Put some curry paste (I use Pataks madraas) according to instruction
1 tin chopped tomatoes
400g stewing beef or lamb
Switch on slow cooker for 6-8 hours on high

If I can be bothered I sweat a chopped onion and add that with everything else too

There are loads of slow cooker threads on MN from the past few years. My favourite recommended recipe is a BBC good food recipe for lamb and sweet potato tagine. Just bung all the ingredients listed in the SC and cook for 6-8 hours. Yum!

Marking my place as I bought one on special offer in Sainsbos today.

grin at limp willies!!

Oh I am doing a small whole chicken tomorrow so will see how it goes :D looking forward to having a play with it, The sausage thing sounds awesome too, so will try that! Thank you everyone! :D

grin limp willies.

I like the look of that recipe. Could add butter beans. Or use dried chilli instead of mixed herbs if spice was preferred.

Will be trying that next week.

sausages are one of the very few things i brown as they look like limp willies if you don't!!

Do you brown the sausages before you put them in sassh? I would be worried that the fats running out of them would make it taste greasy. I buy cheapish sausages though.

I am still learning too. Look at Slow Cooker recipes online then cook on the curries section on the orange bar at the top.

lamb rogan josh was superb.

Whole chicken

Switch on slow cooker
put chicken in slow cooker
put lid on slow cooker
set to high

eat when you are ready.

You can of course add herbs / spices etc, but you don't have to.

If you want to take the chicken out whole it's a good idea to have a couple of foil strips under it.

My famouse sausage recipe (can also be done with beef ribs)

sausages
passatta - one or two packets depending on the amount of people you are feeding
finely sliced onion
chopped piece of chorizo
sliced peppers
salt and pepper
dried mixed herbs

just bung it all in the slow cooker and serve with crust bread to dip in the sauce.

Hello everyone, sorry for being a pain in the arse, but my mother bought me a nice 6.5L Slow cooker in the argos sale today as I've been after one for an age!
I've got it proudly sitting on the worktop, but the small recipes that came with it are kinda shit!

I'm looking for a chicken masala type one, a whole chicken one (yes we eat a load of chicken) some casserole types, sausage, beef etc. Or if anyone can direct me to a good source of slow cooker recipes I would be ever so grateful, it's curry night tomorrow night in the drytoast household and I want to try it out!
