Am gonna have a go at making a simnel cake with DD tomorrow. The recipe I have says to use almond paste. I may be being thick here but can I use marzipan instead?

I thought it was marzipan. Maybe marzipan is a word like hoover instead of vacuum cleaner....sorry, my mind has gone blank!

Marzipan is almond paste - or at least a form of it. Both are made with the same ingredients, but marzipan has more sugar and is made with more finely ground almonds, so it's smoother and easier to manipulate. Almond paste has a higher concentration of almonds so has a stronger taste. Both are fine to use for Simnel cake!

Thanks for the advice. Will give it a go and hope for the best!
