Preferably recipes I can knock together in the 15 minutes between getting in from work and the DDs killing each other through hunger-driven aggression.
The Philadelphia with salmon is nice and easy too. There's a recipe on the Philadelphia site.
Put some milk in a saucepan, add a dollop of Philadelphia with herbs or chives, heat and keep stirring. When it's melted add the cooked pasta. You can add some cooked peas at this stage. Mix everything up. Then put in the smoked salmon cuts and stir.
The recipe is for tagliatelle, which is nice, but you can use any pasta really and it's easier to mix shapes than ribbons.
This is nice with a leafy salad with some chopped peppers.
Chepstowmonkey, I like the sound of the pasta with broccoli. That must work out really cheap too.

As I was saying, cook garlic, whizz the butter garlic mixture with half the peas, some pea water and some strong cheese. Mint, basil and parsley all work nicely in it too. Easy peasy. Peas of piss. Sorry.
I was going to post Jamie's Prawn and Rocket Spaghetti but I see someone has already done it.
I also do one with fried Pancetta, mushrooms, a spoonfull of Pesto and a small tub of creme fraiche that the kids love and takes minutes.
Pasta and chorizo in spicy tomato sauce (or sausage/chicken/mushrooms/bacon chunks/roasted veg)
Get your chorizo sausage out of the fridge and take out of the wrapper.
Dice a small onion, soften in a pan with some frylight then add a value can of chopped toms. Pinch of sugar, salt and pepper, half a teaspoon of mild chilli powder and a squirt of tomato puree then leave to simmer. Put on pasta. Sauce is for 2/3.
Dice a third of the chorizo after peeling off skin. Fry in a pan over a gentle heat until nicely coloured. Set aside and either drain oil to use cooking something else or stir into sauce.
Add pasta to sauce, stir, serve and add chorizo (or other meat or veg).
Sorry, forgot to say 2 cloves chopped with the garlic.
Blue cheesy pasta.
When it's got 5 mins left add some broccoli
When 2 mins left add spinach
Drain pasta but reserve a cup of the water.
Put pasta back in pan with a tub of creme fraiche & 100g blue cheese
Stir to melt the cheese into a sauce add water a bit at a time until consistency is right.
Meant to say you can also add some black pepper or cayenne pepper at the end.
depending on what they like here are some of our faves:
Zucchini: Grate 2 large zucchini and set aside. Peel and slice two cloves garlic and heat through gently in a pan with a good 4 tbsp of olive oil in (from cold). When beginning to sizzle, add zucchini and warm through (not browned), for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with a few chilli flakes, then stir into cooked pasta shells/twists and add loads of finely grated parmesan and a twist of black pepper.
Bean & salami: Cut a pack of salami slices into shreds using kitchen scissors (it's faster). Peel a clove of garlic and slice into a pan. Add salami. Turn on heat and wait for the fat of salami to come through slowly and coat garlic, Stir frequently. Low heat. Then add a can of chopped tinned tomatoes, a bay leaf, and a tin of drained cannellini beans, plus about half of the tomato tin of water too. Turn heat up until bubbling quite hard, for about 15/20mins or so, until reduced. Season to taste if needed. Serve with small shape pasta (ditalini, maccheroni etc are best).
Tuna and tomato: Make a basic tomato sauce recipe (sliced garlic cloves into gently warming olive oil), tomato tin added once garlic is clear but not browning. Bay leaf. Basil leaves or dried oregano if you have it. Cook uncovered for about 15mins. Add splash of red wine for flavour (not necessary but nice!) and then a tin of drained tuna. Stir through and cook for further 10mins. You can even set aside some for your kids, then add capers and black olives to remaining sauce to jazz it up for the adults (if kids don't like those extras). Goes well with any pasta and a sprinkling of cheese.
Tip: even when I only make a basic tomato sauce, I always make much more than I need (usually 2 or 3 tinned tomatoes worth ) and freeze the remainder, even into small portions for the kids, or larger family portions.
I like to make chicken and courgette pasta with pesto - you can replace the courgette with your favourite veg if you like and the recipe lends itself well to left over roast chicken.
A real time saver is microwave white sauce, so much quicker that the traditional way and can be adapted to make cheese sauce, mushroom sauce, spinach sauce etc - all good with pasta. Microwave cheese sauce

Chicken and sundried tomato with spinach
Fry the chicken in the sundried tomato oil, add the chopped sun dried tomato and then add the spinach for the last few minutes until it wilts. Stir into pasta
What we call egg and bacon pasta
boil the pasta
fry pancetta cubes or chopped up bacon, could also add mushroom, courgette. Mix those into the pasta and while the pasta is very hot mix 3 eggs into the pasta and heat from the pasta should cook the egg into a sauce.
Melt boirsin cheese, then add some milk to thin into a sauce, add smoked salmon an/or mushrooms
Caramelised onions, chopped dried figs and blue cheese is an unusual favourite of ours.
On a blue cheese theme, a blue cheese sauce melted in and then sliced pear and walnuts stirred through just before serving.
We also love roast veg or sausage, tinned tomato and fennel seeds.
Also for a cold pasta sauce: smoked salmon, chopped apple, chopped celery, dill and sour cream is lovely. We had that in Norway and it was called a Flåm special in the cafe we went to. We call it that too as Flåm (pron. Flom we think) is just so fun to say. Flåm Flåm Flåm.
Following this with interest as 10mo DD loves pasta and is allergic to tomatoes. I need inspiration too.

My kids' favourite meal ever is pasta in cheating cheese sauce (upsetting for me as I love cooking, and this is the opposite!): while the pasta is cooking put half a pot of double cream and a handful of ready grated cheddar (that's enough for my 3 kids 5 and under) on a v low heat (has to be ready grated as the potato starch in it thickens the sauce). By the time the pasta is ready, the cheese will have melted and made a rich and effortless cheese sauce. If it's too thick, loosen with a splash of milk. I usually throw some peas or broccoli into the pasta water a few mins before it's ready
to make me feel like I'm making a bit of effort.

When cooked add some tinned toms but not too much. Then throw in pasta and mix. Top with cheese. You can add any cooked veg. I usually add sweet corn and broccoli. A pound of mince goes a very long way.
Fry all or some of: chopped onion, broccoli florets, cut up bacon or lardons, sliced mushrooms, pine nuts add pasta fusilli and a jar of pesto, and hey pesto!
Fry all or some of:
~tin of tuna,
~chopped celery (hardly noticeable apart from crunchy texture in this but crosses off another of the 5 a day ),
~black pitted olives
~handful or two of frozen sweetcorn or a tin of,
~stir in a packet of (light?) cream cheese i.e. philadelphia,
~a tin of condensed mushroom soup i.e. Campbells,
~add the cooked fusilli pasta,
~add splashes of milk until consistency is less stodgy and more saucy
~season to taste (a tiny bit of hot paprika/Cayenne pepper can give it more of a kick)
eat straight away or place in ovenproof dish and cover with breadcrumbs, grated cheese and bake for 30 mins or until golden brown on top and hot throughout.
Serve with or other legally appropriate beverage!
Jamie Olivers Broccoli Orecchiette Pasta from 30 Minute Meals, and he also has a good sausage pasta in that book too, oh and a macaroni and cauliflower cheese which I find a bit bland but is an excellent way of disguising veggies for picky eaters.

Santa Fe Pasta Salad from my ReBar cookbook - can be served warm. Basically pasta shells, roasted corn, candied smoked salmon, feta cheese, pine nuts and baby toms with a dressing made from roasted red peppers and garlic with lots of olive oil . It's very yummy, but takes at least an hour to make...
